Dreaming Of Sprites

a lovely fairy stands with her head held high
she stares at the stars that fill the night's sky
her dreams are mirrored in her twinkling eyes
like a million dancing fires burning bright

lovely little fairy; most precious sprite of all
she longs for the answer to her dream's call
her eyes pleading to the stars; distant and small
whose shimmering stardust soon upon her falls

lovely little fairy, she has now sprouted her wings
now turning to the moon as she quietly sings
her eyes capturing the glow of each moonbeam
as they fall on her lovely face; white as cream

lovely little fairy, standing in the moon's light
her face is now glowing, much to her delight
the moon has finally granted her wish tonight
now to it's magic she's been granted the right

lovely little fairy with her pretty eyes glistening
she feels the cool kiss of a waterfall's misting
in a forest dark, where songbirds are whistling
and leaves of the ancients are quietly whispering

deep within a forest, where such fantasies abide
the ancients dwell, canopies thick and wide
the sun piercing their branches in pillars of light
as it strikes rising dew that has fallen overnight

moss draping their branches like unkept goatees
long and flowing, swinging gently in the breeze
and crystal clear streams that flow swift beneath
they hold the key, to a mystical realm of fantasy

the secret domain of myth and dragon and knight
and old castles with moats and coven's rites
of druids' chants heard; without ever a sight
and where fairies play; dancing in the twilight

the entrance to the forest is an overgrown trail
which is easily found; if from that side you hail
though if you have passed; you'll miserably fail
lest you return to your past and all it entails

the trail enters the forest but doesn't go through
the footsteps upon it are both ancient and new
many have entered; the forest returns but a few
so let your dreams lead and the forest awaits you

if you can find that path, now long since unused
it will begin in your mind and lead you through
if you can follow its course, and not get confused
you will find that fantasy's realm, is indeed true
