| Fourth of July at the Beach we sat huddled on the blanket, our toes tucked into the sand. the sun had said it's final good bye to the day, and settled behind the horizon. the aroma of charred hot dogs and burning marshmallows sailed along the gentle, evening breeze. and we waited. with urgent anticipation, we waited. when the light show began, the echoing booms rang out around us. the oohs and ahhs seemed like prayers, whispered in the night. we smiled, and our hands met, we didn't say a word. and we waited. with urgent anticipation, we waited. |
